Our story

Twelve tables, and a kitchen that means it.

Bayleaf opened on Mill Lane in 2016 in what used to be a bookbinder's workshop. The long counter is the original workbench, sanded back and oiled; the rest we built around it.

The kitchen changes the menu with the seasons and buys from three farms within twenty miles, a fishmonger who still gets up at four, and a baker two doors down. Nothing is flown in that could have been grown here.

We are a small room (twelve tables, a counter for six) which means every plate leaves the pass and lands in front of someone within a minute or two. That is the whole idea.
